Los Angeles-based premium denim brand Mother is reaching into a time capsule for inspiration.

The brand launched this week Lost & Found, a collection of women’s jeans and tops that takes a nostalgic look back on the trademark styles of the ’70s and ’80s.

The 11-piece capsule collection includes two-tone Henley tops, a cropped dugout shirt, a tank top and crewneck T-shirts with retro stripes. The sole denim item is the Hustler Roller Bonafide Heel, a high-rise semi-rigid wide-leg jean with a 24.5-inch leg opening.

Lost & Found also includes Mother’s first line of hats. The three trucker styles share a nostalgic red and blue color palette and feature sayings like “Mother Likes You Best” and “Fast as a Mother.” The front of a third hat prominently features the brand’s flag logo.

The brand states that the collection “covets what’s been left behind.”

“We played around with real vintage finds, brightly colored football tees with a throwback feel and wide-legged deadstock denim,” said Tim Kaeding, Mother’s creative director and co-founder. “We were inspired by the stereotypical lost-and-found happenings in a high school locker room—when you weren’t trying to scrimmage but still wanted to look cute.”

Nostalgia is a popular theme for Mother. In March, the brand introduced a ’70s-inspired collection of denim, tees and knitwear inspired by David Bowie’s alter ego and early ’70s stage persona, Ziggy Stardust. In 2022, Mother launched Snacks!, a range of ’80s and ’90s jeans.

Lost & Found is available now in stores and on Mother’s website. The collection retails for $50-$245.
