The recently concluded six-week long Test series between two fierce rivals in England and Australia not only lived up to the expectations of the fans in accordance to the created hype but is also being proclaimed as one of the best Ashes series ever played.

English cricketers and their invigorating brand of play continues to inspire people to the point that they are not only being treated as role models but even their cricketing gears and apparel donned by their bodies are being treated as a celeb fashion statement these days.

First donned by captain Ben Stokes during a one-off Test match against Ireland in June, the bucket hat became an instant hit when most of the English cricketers were spotted sporting them during first Ashes 2023 Test at Edgbaston.

In fact, if fans are to be believed, it took mere 30 minutes before commencement of play on Day 1 for the initial batch of England team bucket hats available online at the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) website to be sold out.

The retail price of these bucket hats, which has the three lions logo embossed on the front, is £25. At the ECB website (presently out of stock), the same was available at £30 before all of it got sold off sometime during the five-match Test series. At present, s brand new England Cricket Castore Navy colour bucket hat is a available at £59.99.

As per a previous month’s report by The Telegraph & Argus, the hats proved to be such a prized-possession among English fans that the sellers were beginning to cap their price seven times as high as £175 during the third Test at Headingley.

According to a tweet by renowned Australian journalist Melinda Farrell, 10,000 bucket hats were sold off by the end of Ashes 2023. It couldn’t be confirmed whether the number included purchases from other online websites or not.

A huge credit for the exponential increase in demand for bucket hats goes to the face of Bazball – Ben Stokes. In fact, after being spotted wearing the headgear on a regular basis throughout the series, fans have nicknamed him ‘Bucket Hat Ben’.

“It’s amazing. When you give a bit of apparel to a player, everyone wants to buy them. The lads have really enjoyed wearing them”, remarked Stokes while speaking to BBC Radio 4.

With Stokes most likely to take a long time-off from international cricket, it remains to be seen how the sales graph of these bucket hats would appear like in the near future where England are scheduled to play 11 white-ball matches at home.
